Navaratri is the “Festival of Nine Nights” which itself speaks that it is celebrated for nine nights and symbolises the power of women. This festival has grown its importance in almost all parts of India but basically it has its origin in Western India. It is widely celebrated in India and Nepal.
There were almost 70 people from different universities ranging from VDU, KTU and LSMU who attended this wonderful evening and added the grace to the festival. It started with the devotional hymn dedicated to the Goddess Durga or Amba. Several people came in the elegant traditional dress of west India.

It was very surprising that not only Indians took part in it, but also people from Lithuania, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Spain, Nigeria and Italy actively participated in this event. Prayer was followed by the traditional dance “Garba” and the food “Khichdi-Kadhi” which were relished by all.
The credits for the event also go to the Wing Commander Mr Rajinder Chaudhary who provided the platform to initiate this and also to Mr Madan Singh and Mr Chandan Singh who brought the food from Vilnius. The way it was celebrated in Lithuania was exactly the way it was celebrated in India, allowing the guests to mingle with the atmosphere of Indian Culture.
